Story behind the song
BELLE VUE MANCHESTER. BELLE VUE KINGS HALL MANCHESTER: It was suggested to me that 2025 may be the 60th Anniversary of my Aunt, Dance Teacher Joan G. Bates of Stockport UK putting on her own CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS BALLET in a long gone Manchester venue known as the Kings Hall, in a long gone, huge entertainment complex containing a Zoo, Dance Halls, Speedway, Circus etc. This may well be the case, but my thoughts are more towards 1966-67. Joan had been presenting Kids Shows for a long while at Belle Vue, and I played as a child myself for the 1964 September Railway Carnival Kids Ballet in this same venue. Subequently until the cessation of Railway Carnivals, and up to the 1972 Children's Christmas Ballet. There was a pianist I met briefly at Manchester Press Club who took over from me by the name of Doris Nixon. Recently though I saw a photo of The Beatles playing Manchester Apollo Theatre in 1965. It states it was a very foggy night . . . this makes me return to considering 1965 as I remember going to play for a Show at the nearby Kings Hall, on a similar freezing foggy night. Any news for me on this topic, or any questions for me with pleasure . . . pianist@tutamail.com
